Soul Haus: Attire and Accoutrement, located in the EZE Mop Shopping District at 1225 East 17th Avenue, is home to all that is cool, vintage and unique. The newly remodeled family-owned and operated store will carry selective fashions as well as one-of-a-kind furniture, accessories and home décor.

Previously two separate shops called Soul Haus and Peppermint, the merged store is scheduled to open on January 26, 2012. The store is owned by Stephanie Shearer, her husband Chris, and Stephanie's mother Carol Tervo: the trio also behind the one-stop sparkle shop Pandora on the Hill.

Soul Haus has been well-established in Denver fashion since it opened in 1999. When Peppermint opened three years ago, the two shops catered to men and women, side by side.

The merged store will continue to carry men's and women's clothing, cards and gifts and will also continue to feature local artists and artisans (something they have done for over 13 years). However, now they will also add vintage kitsch, collectibles and furniture to their unique boutique.

"Peppermint and Soul Haus both have always had treasures peeking out of shelves throughout the shop and people have come in and wanted to purchase all of our displays, so now they can," said Shearer. "We love curious findings and intellectual tchotchke, and it will fill our shelves right next to the lines our customers have come to love,"

Besides the remodel, Bacorn and Shearer who have been described by Westword as "an inner-city booster couple", are also proudly serving on the volunteer board of the Uptown on the Hill Neighborhood Organization, helping to develop an Urban Green Belt along the 17th Avenue corridor, and have just recently completed the certifiaction process with Certifiably Green Denver, registering them as one of the few earth-friendly boutiques in Denver.

"We have carried unique cards, gifts, jewelry and local crafts and creations since 1999," says Shearer. "Our success is that we give the best customer service in town, hands down-- and that ain't braggin' its just a fact."

Bacorn adds, "But we are only ever as good as the quality of our customers, and it is truly our customers who make us unique."

That success and customer support has allowed the Soul Haus team to donate to more than a dozen local charities as well as host a plethora of fundraisers for the community.

"It’s not that it’s good business or even the right thing to do, " says Shearer, "it’s just simply HOW we do."
